The Church of St Margaret’s Benefactors

The church’s Quinquennial Inspection Report in 2015 identified a number of major issues. Despite the PCC’s best efforts income had not kept pace with the scale of work required and the accumulated repairs had become urgent.

With the help of our architect Nicholas Warns an application was submitted to the Heritage Lottery Fund. A first stage grant of £31,500 was awarded in October 2016 to carry out initial investigative work and obtain the necessary permissions. Match funding from a variety of sources covered the shortfall and enabled the project proceed.

A second stage application was submitted to the Heritage Lottery Fund in October 2017 with the successful awarding of £217,000 in November 2017.

The PCC is indebted to Treasurer Angela Phipps, whose determination, skill and hours of work have propelled the project forward.
